Review Process

Meeting Frequency

The DRC meets monthly as well as upon special request.

Review Milestones

Projects are typically reviewed by the DRC at three project milestones:

1. Project Start (early in the pre-development phase):

A typical project is first introduced at its inception as an introduction to the issues that a design consultant should consider and the proposed planning principles for guiding design of the project.

2. Completion of Conceptual Design

3. Schematic Design Review

Approximately 50% – 75% Schematic Design completion when
the exterior design is sufficiently developed for evaluation

Flexibility in Process

Design review milestones and processes may vary due to project schedule or unique project circumstances.

Engagement and Collaboration

The DRC may engage faculty, staff, students, and alumni as appropriate on a project-by-project basis. The committee may also appoint subcommittees which can include additional individuals not part of the DRC itself, to engage more deeply in selected projects than the Committee is able.

Architect Selection Involvement

The DRC may, at its discretion, nominate faculty DRC members to sit on the Architect Selection Committees to advise on hiring of external architecture/engineering firms for projects.
